Velebit Trekking – 2007
A 5th edition of the Velebit Ultra Trail – a two days non-stop ultra trail race for the individuals will take competitors through the Croatian mythical mountain – Velebit – one of the last remaining untouched wildernesses in Europe. The race is divided in two categories: Ultra trail – 81 km long course with 5000 meters of positive elevation and Challenger trail – 25 km long course with 2000 meters positive elevation. The race trail is very well marked by the signs for direction and is consisted of 20 check points. There are 3 refreshment points and one point where competitors can be in touch with their gear boxes. The race instructions and check points locations along with official will be sent to the competitors after they apply for the race. Carrying the mandatory equipment through the entire course competitors must to plan necessary food, equipment and manage tactics of resting and sleeping. All forms of civilization are avoided giving the competitors a real sense of a pure adventure.
about velebit mountain
Velebit, the longest mountain range in Croatia; stretching from the cove of Senjska Draga to the upper course of the Zrmanja river, in the total length of about 145 km. Northern Velebit does not have the shape of a typical mountain ridge or crest; it consists of several ranges of ridges and crests, separated from each other by deep karst ravines and valleys. Southern Velebit has a simple aspect of a narrow high mountain range with clearly defined bare littoral and forested continental slopes. Major peaks of Velebit lie in the central part, east of Starigrad.
These are; Vaganski Vrh (1,753m), the highest peak of Velebit and Sveto Brdo (1,753m). Sotheast of Sveto Brdo, the massif of Velebit is lower. Here are also the most important passes O1tarijska Vrata and Prezid. The oldest pass on Velebit is Mali Alan, which has lost its importance. Caves are amply represented in the relief of Velebit, the best known being Cerovacke Spilje near Gracac and the caves of Paklenica near Starigrad. Littoral slopes are the oldest inhabited areas on Velebit. The only larger place on the coast is the town of Senj. The Lika slope and the mountain itself are not so much populated. According to its size, natural features and role in the Croatian history and culture, Velebit is the most famous Croatian mountain range. Velebit can be reached from the coastal region and from the region of Lika. There are several lodging facilities on Velebit itself.

5. izdanje! Da, 5. izdanje, ne bi vjerovali! Kao da je bilo jueer kada su Ferro i Soldo po prvi puta, 2003.godine, “sa1ili” Velebit u 131 km i 34 sata od Paklenice do Senja! Zatim je 2004. Ferro i1ao za 2 sata br 3/4 e, da bi 2005. godine Kristijan (C)ivak postavio “granicu snova” od 26 i pol sati! Ove godine, Velebitski treking ima novo lice, jer starta i zavr1ava u – Paklenici! Osim 1to Vas pozivamo na Pasta party noae prije utrke (jer svi startaju ujutro u 5h!) i Velebitsko pivo party poslije same utrke, obeaeajemo da aee Velebit 2007 biti “utrka nad utrkama” – 1to po stazi, 1to po organizaciji, jer – staza je LUUDA – i za Ultra1e, ali i bogme za – Planinare!
